The Virtue of La ilaha illallah
'La ilaha illallah' (there is no god but Allah) is the foundation of Islamic belief — the core statement of monotheism that every other act of worship rests upon.
Why it is emphasized
- It is the first part of the declaration of faith (Shahadah)
- It is described in tradition as the best form of dhikr
- Reflecting on its meaning — that true worship and reliance belong to Allah alone — is considered more valuable than repeating it without thought
Saying it sincerely, understanding its meaning, and living in accordance with it are all part of what makes this phrase meaningful, not the words alone.
